The Top 4 are David Archuleta, Jason Castro, David Cook, and Syesha Mercado

Results Show - Voted Off
Wednesday, April 30, 2008 7:06 PM MST

Here We Go. Updated as they happen. Over 45 million votes were cast. Group performance is a tribute including a medley of Neil Diamond songs. Ryan introduces Gina Glocksen and Constantine who are in the audience. They mention that they co-host American Idol Extra (I Love this show! Diana DeGarmo, who will perform her new single "Right Back Where We Ended" on American Idol Extra tomorrow on FOX Reality Channel at 8 p.m. ET). Carrie Underwood is on the "Idol Stamp" this week. Jason Castro is Safe. David Archuleta is safe too!

Next weeks theme is, as I said before, Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame week, Ryan said so as they went to break. Ryan onstage, says a new season of "So You Think You Can Dance" will premiere the day after the 'Idol' finale. Shows montage promoting it. Ryan talks about the Coke cup design challenge, introduces the winner's creation, modeled by Randy. Ryan talks about the three waiting backstage. David Cook walks out. Lots of applause. Ryan reads David's recap of the judges' criticism. Sweet! He is safe! Brooke White and Syesha Mercado are the bottom 2.

Brooke White and Syesha Mercado walk out onto the stage. They recap performances then have them sit on the couch while Natasha Bedingfield performs "Pocketful of Sunshine." She's wearing a brown blouse and black pants. Ryan pretends to have the judges comment, Simon says "oh no" and they don't follow through. Natasha sits with David A. and kisses him on the cheek! She hugs him and Ryan says David would like to ask her to the prom, she says she has a dress and a boyfriend. Call in questions from the fans.

"Catch the Wind" Ford video shown. The finalists are shown going around a gray world with old broken down buildings that turn colorful as the Ford cars drive by. Ryan sitting on the couches, introduces Neil Diamond, who sings "Pretty Amazing Grace." The audience is not really into his performance. Neil's mom is in the audience. Went to a break again results coming. Ryan centerstage, brings Brooke and Syesha onstage. Brooke White is going home

Next weeks Theme May 6 & 7
Wednesday, April 30, 2008 7:50 AM MST

Finally I have word on next weeks (May 6-7 2008) theme.... it's .... David Cook week.... ok it's not it's actually "Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame" or Songs that shaped/inspired Rock & Roll that kinda sounds like David Cook inspired week LOL but really there is such a wide list of songs that everybody can find something. AC/DC to ZZtop with Madonna and Cyndi Lauper stuck somewhere in the middle. (just like everyweek, it's what you make of it dawg!) Should be a fun week with the Top four again picking two songs! Song Suggestions anyone? See the list here Tuesdays show will air a extra 2 minutes again. (8:00-9:02 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed)(7:00-8:02 PM MST tape-delayed). On Wednesdays Top 4 Results show Maroon 5 will perform as will American Idol Alumni Bo Bice (Season 4, Runner-Up)

My Bottom 2
Tuesday, April 29, 2008 8:38 PM MST

My bottom 2 prediction is as crazy as it is Syesha Mercado & David Archuleta with Syesha Mercado going home... it's had to say but someone has to go home....Maybe my David A shocker will happen this week??

Did you catch Paula's critique of Jason's yet to be heard second song? Here is a article on it. Video to the right!

Top 5 Official Song Choice Spoiler
Tuesday, April 29, 2008 4:07 PMMST

Here is the confirmed Neil Diamond song choice list for tonights Top five contestants. This is performance order. The contestant sing their songs in two sets, but the judges won’t judge them until the second song. I will update wuith soong order in a few

Contestants have TWO phone numbers you can vote at tonight. Text is only the ONE number... the first one

Tuesday, April 29, 2008 6:16 PM Recap Edit Started

Vote Number: 1-866-IDOLS-*
Vote Number: 1-866-436-57*
or Text "Vote" to 57*
* = Contestant Number

  • 01 Jason Castro: "Forever in Blue Jeans" centerstage playing the guitar. Wearing a longsleeve white shirt and jeans. Simple performance
  • 02 David Cook: "I'm Alive" He is playing guitar, wearing a black blazer and red shirt with black pants. Band has rocked the song up, his vocals sound very scratchy but in a good way.
  • 03 Brooke White: "I'm a Believer" She is playing guitar too. Her vocals are a bit subdued. Wearing a blue blouse and blue dress pants. She's smiling and looks like she's having fun.
  • 04 David Archuleta: "Sweet Caroline" He sounds very strong in the begining, a little lacking on the lower register. Brass is getting major props. Audience seems to be in it the most out of all of them. Ends on a nice note, holds it for about three seconds.
  • 05 Syesha Mercado: "Hello Again" Her hair is down and she looks beautiful. Still sitting and is strong vocally. Audience is doing their signature arm swaying. She gets up and walks across the stage. She ends on a vulnerable yet beautiful note
  • 06 Jason Castro: "September Morn" Gives the camera good eye contact. Vocals are very reserved and in tune. He gets up and stands centerstage. Goes up an octave.
  • 07 David Cook: "All I Really Need Is You" Opens up centerstage playing guitar at micstand. No band yet, just him playing guitar. Strings come in. Rock element kicks in, David ups the ante on his vocals. Audience doing stupid arm swaying. He holds a few notes well, goes into his falsetto. Ends quietly on a great note and looks directly at the camera. Certainly made his own arrangement.
  • 08 Brooke White: "I Am ... I Said" On piano with lyrics on her hand. She opens playing the piano. Vocals are much better than her first eprformance. She did insert "I'm Arizona born and raised" rather than "New York," taking Neil's advice. Audience really into it. She's a lot more confident.
  • 09 David Archuleta: "America"Opens centerstage holding mic. Audience clapping. The arrangement is upbeat, not a ballad like some speculated it would be. He cracks a bit on a high note but nothing too bad. Sounds strong on "my country tis of thee" part. Backup singers sound good actually. He is very confident. And ends on a long, high note
  • 10 Syesha Mercado: "Thank the Lord for the Night Time" Begins at micstand centerstage. The three backups are to her right on the stage. She moves away from the micstand and walks back and forth. She's dancing and looks like she's having fun Vocals are strong, not as good as the first but she's showing personality so it makes up for it. She ends on a sassy note.
  • Top 5 - Neil Diamond - Song Choice Spoilers
    Tuesday, April 29, 2008 9:41 AM MST

Finally it is Tuesday! I just love Tuesdays! Tonights show will be 62(8:00-9:02 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) minutes long as the final five contestants sing 2 Neil Diamond Songs. That will be a lot to fit in to 62 minutes. An early Febuary schedule I had said tonights show would be an hour and a half but that is not the case. Even so they will be singing TWO songs for one fast hour that like years before will leave you wanting more. For more information on this weeks show scroll down a few topics!

These are rumors. I will post the official spoiler list later this afternoon (appox. 4 MST).

    Popwatch hint from Joan
    Jason Castro
quoted: "Jason always dons durable twill weave when taking a stroll at dawn, when the foliage is dismounting."
This leads me to believe Jasons song choices will be "Forever in Blue Jeans" and "September Morn".

The below possible song choice is from various places. But is 100% rumor. Nothing concrete.

    David Archuleta
    I'm a Believer - America

Other rumors are out there but there is nothing with merit enough to talk about lets just wait for the real spoiler list due out very soon!

Other Songs by Neil Diamond: Song Sung Blue, Cracklin' Rosie, Sweet Caroline, Red Red Wine, I am I said, Solitary Man, Coming to America,The Boat That I Row, You Don't Bring Me Flowers, Morning Has Broken, Play Me, Hello, again, Heartlight, The Story of my Life, and Shilo

    Top 4 Theme - May 6-7
    Tuesday, April 29, 2008 9:31 AM MST

Still no final confirmation on wht the theme will be for next weeks(May 6-7) Final 4. I hope for Billboard Top 100, as I think this is a must have theme every year. But I do however know which themes is will NOT be. It's not iTunes, or Bob Dylan, and it's not Disney (break a girls heart why don't you... I was excited about this for all of five minutes... then I was told not it will not be happening) even though there is something going on between Disney and the Top 5. The Top 4 will sing two songs & will also have the extra 2 minutes running time! LOL

    Wednesday, April 23, 2008 7:04 PM MST

Show is Live right now I update as I have information. The show will run for one hour. Over 38 million voted. Group Performance Song is "All I Ask of You" Andrew Lloyd Webber(ALW) onstage at piano. Ryan says the American Idol Summer Concert Tour 2008 kicks off in Glendale, Ariz. All dates and locations HERE Recaping of last night show. ALW sits down onstage with Ryan onstage for a brief interview. Leona Lewis after the break.

It will be just a bottom 2 tonight. Ryan introduces a montage of AI alums that have been on Broadway. They show Diana, Fantasia and LaKisha, then Tamyra Grey. They are focusing on Tamyra Grey, she's currently in Rent. Clay Aiken shown next, he's in Spamalot. They show a clip of him performing. Leona singing "Bleeding Love.", she's wearing a white dress, knee-length and lights are very bright. Performance is beautiful complete with flames!

Brooke says she thinks it was the right move to restart. Brooke is safe. Brooke looked shocked beyond belief. Syesha Bottom 2. Jason and Carly are left one is in the bottom as well.

Ryan brings out Carly and Jason. This is the best I have seen Carly look.. my favorite outfit of hers by far! Recaps. Jason is... Safe!! Carly in the bottom 2. Both Syesha and Carly will sing one more time before the results are read. Syesha is... Safe Carly goes home tonight..

    Shocker Elimination Show
    Wednesday, April 23, 2008 11:34 AM MST

I know everyone thought Michael's elimination was a shocker but in reality it wasn't. So, I think we are still in need of one and the David's are the ones with the most shock value. I am writing this because I keep getting these weird thoughts & it bugs me becuase many weeks ago I thought David Archuleta would be voted off in a "Shocker Elimination" during Top 4 or 5 week. But I think instead he may be in the bottom three this week... not voted off, just in the bottom three for a little "Wow!" factor. My reasoning is that maybe so many think he is safe and may be "sympathy voting" for Syesha, Jason, or Brooke... who for their own reasons need help this week to continue. I sure hope not but...

    Carly Smithson

If American Idol continues continue with the predictable Boy, Girl, Boy, Girls, Vote off they have been doing then Jason goes home. And with his not so good performance it is VERY possible. But I don't think this will happen as Jason has a decent fan base. I so loved Syesha spirited performance tonight but even with that FANTASTIC performance I just don't think Syesha has the fan base to pull out another week. I thought Brooke did show another side to her singing style that I really enjoyed even with the restart and the nerves. I thought that tonight was Carly's best performance. I really like Carly so its nice to see her have a good night at such an important time. I think most didn't notice Carly skip part of the lyrics. I loved both David's and think the only thing we can really count on is they are both safe this week even with Archie forgetting some of his lyrics again. Thankfully, its Broadway week so I don't think it was noticed by many so & it should not affect him.

  • 01/07 Syesha Mercado "One Rock & Roll Too Many" by Starlight Express
  • 02/08 Jason Castro "Memory" from Cats.
  • 03/09 Brooke White "You Must Love Me" from the film adaptation of "Evita"
  • 04/10 David Archuleta "Think of Me" from Phantom of the Opera
  • 05/11 Carly Smithson "Jesus Christ Superstar"
  • 06/12 David Cook "Music of the Night" from Phantom of the Opera
  • I love that David Cook gets the pimp spot again this week. I sure hate waiting thru the whole to hear him tho. I am horever worried about Syesha and her going first. I think they should have had Cookie go first this week and give Syesha or Carly the pimp spot instead. I'm excited for Brooke hearing thart she may do very well. I am pretty sure that unless Jason, who I hear is sick, does something horrid and/or Carly is a "Superstar" then the bottom three will be all girls again this week. I will have to watch the show before posting my bottom three. Shows not on for me yet but soon.

Andrew Lloyd Webber - Song Choice Spoilers
    Tuesday, April 22, 2008 10:36:36 AM

The song choices given are at this point rumor and not %100 I will post the official spoiler list later this afternoon

I have no idea what to expect for tonight but did find out a few things about the Top 6 finalists meeting with Andrew Lloyd Webber from the set of “Phantom the Las Vegas Spectacular” at the Venetian Hotel, Las Vegas.

In an article with the L.A. Times Andrew Lloyd Webber summed up the experience of watching the "Idol" cast perform his work. "I hear my songs all over the place, all over the world. You hear versions of them where they work, but they're not necessarily what I would do if I were there and were able to have input to the artist, which is why it is quite interesting to have a bunch of kids singing my own music. Very strange choices some of them made as well." He laughed. "But I'm not allowed to tell you about it."

I’m a new boy on this one (AI) — I saw it this week for the first time. I think that’s rather good, you know, because I’m not influenced by what’s happened. I think the ‘Idol’ people were quite taken aback, actually, by what I do, versus some of the other mentors. I hope I’ve managed to change a couple of their performances, because a couple of them were dire.” “One of them,” Andrew says, “actually ended up being really excellent.” He won’t be coaxed into telling exactly who that singer is. “No, I won’t, but it should be pretty obvious.” quoted from Las Vegas Sun

    Jason Castro
Jason Castro might sing “Memories” from the musical Cats. From EW comments

    Carly Smithson
Quoted form ALW interview “Carly — she’s the Irish one, isn’t she? — Carly was going to do ‘All I Ask of You’ (from “Phantom”), and I felt a bit of a turncoat in this theater of all places, saying, ‘This is wildly unsuited for you, darling. I said to her, ‘It’s crazy, you’ve got to do a rock-and-roll song. Better to do “Jesus Christ Superstar.” I think she’ll rock the place out with it,” he chuckles. “We’ll see how much they take of what I said — or not. I’ll probably be cut to shreds (in editing).” quoted from Las Vegas Sun

    Brooke White
Although Lloyd Webber was barred "under pain of death" from revealing the song choices, he did speak of being struck by one moment in particular. "The girl who I was really quite impressed with was Brooke. She was really -- I got something out of her. I mean, whether or not, you know, that is there at the end, I really couldn't tell you.

"The one thing is working with me, one on one, where I'm on the other side -- I'm sort of actually, in her case, holding her hand to get the performance out of her. It's very different than sitting in a great big television studio with a big audience and you've got a camera in front of you. So, one will have to see."
Quoted from ALW interview with the L.A. Times

    David Cook
According to Miles Siggins, on the TV Guide channel Idol Wrap, David wanted to wear a full suit this week, but he and Miles compromised on a suit and jacket look.

    David Archuleta
"Think of Me" from “The Phantom of the Opera
Possible ALW comment refering to David... “One of them,” Webber says, “actually ended up being really excellent.” He won’t be coaxed into telling exactly who that singer is. “No, I won’t, but it should be pretty obvious.
Quoted from ALW interview with the L.A. Times

    Syesha Mercado
    Performing first.

Call Me crazy, You know I am... I have not watched the show but I feel so strongly about my choices that I am going to go ahead and post who I think will be in the bottom three and voted off on Wednesday nights (April 15, 2008) results show.

Speaking of the results show.... Mariah will be performing for Cary Going Home tonight? American Idol on Wednesday, April 16 (9:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed)(8:00-9:00 PM MST tape-delayed) elimination show where one more contestant will be voted off. In addition to Mariah, Elliott Yamin (Season 5, 3rd Place), will also be on the show!

  • Carly Smithson - Going Home
  • Syesha Mercado
  • Kristy Lee Cook
  • David Cook as usual he made it his own and it was really good. The song started out funny. I kept looking for the Mariah version. But by mid song I had totally forgot about Mariah and was enjoying David's song! Randy thought it was the best performance of the season and gave him the first standing O of the season. Paula loved it and Simon said it was the best of the night, and said everyone else seemed like they were singing karoke

Official Mariah Carey Song Choice Spoiler
    Tuesday, April 15, 2008 4:02 MST

A little later than usual but TMZ has finally posted the Final Seven's "Songs by Mariah" song selections for tonights show. Tonights show is one hour and airs on Fox 8:00-9:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed or 7:00-8:00 PM MST tape-delayed.

My favorite song to be performed on American Idol tonight will be David Archuleta & "When You Believe" I am a big fan of Dreamworks "Prince of Eygypt" animated film as I am a big Cartoon nut. "When You Believe" is a beautiful duet with both the amazing singers Whitney Houston & Mariah (I can hear Sim
