Audition dates and locations for Season 8 have not yet been announced. Audition dates and location information will be posted as soon as it is made available. Typically auditions usually begin in the last week of July or the first week of August. Audition cities and dates usually are announced in late June or early July. Season 8 shows will begin airing early 2009.

The next American Idol is.... David Cook. He won by 12 million votes. And is Crying! He walks around the stage and keeps crying. Cook says he started the season as the word nerd and is at a loss for ords. He thanks his fans. His mom 7 Brother hugs him onstage. Cook sings "Time of My Life" Fireworks come down Confetti drops. David Cook wins and I got to see him in his underwear. This is the best Finale ever!

Ryan says the winner recieved 56% of the votes, while the other David got 44%. Mikalah Gordon is covering David Cook's hometown party. Matt Rodgers host the Energy Solutions Arena Party! Ryan introduces the stars of "So You Think You Can Dance" The Top 12 performing "Get Ready" all in white. David Cook performs "Hero" by Chad Kroeger/Josey Scott. It's a duet with Archie! Syesha Mercado, wearing a gray dress sings performs"Waiting For You" a duet with Seal . Montoge... Carrie Underwood (Season 4, Winner) sings "Last Name"
Jason Castro sitting on a stool, wearing a blue shirt and jeans, sings "Hallelujah" Melinda shown in audience A "best of" Ford commercial including the Top 12. The song is "Let the Good Times Roll" They show two Escape hybrids outside, Ryan gives them both keys. Archie does have his drivers licence LOL Top 6 girls, in red, perform songs by Donna Summer. Brooke White first to sing then Kristy Lee Cook. Song is "She Works Hard for the Money" Now Amanda Overmyer. Carly Smithson next Song is "Hot Stuff". SYTYCD dancers come out Donna Summer comes down the stairs in all black with a diamond-sparkling microphone. Song might be titled "Stamp Your Feet" judging from the chorus. Donna goes into "Last Dance". Top 6 girls all line up next to her Syesha Mercado standing beside her Fantasia shown in audience.

For the first time in its seven-year history, this summer
"American Idol" will visit my hometown,
Salt Lake City, Utah, to audition contestants for next season's show.
The show's producer, Nigel Lythgoe, told Utah Fox affiliate KSTU Channel 13
that he was impressed with the level of talent in Utah. His other Fox reality
show, "So You Think You Can Dance," stopped in Salt Lake City last winter for
this upcoming season, and it's rumored that a number of Utahns were picked
for the next round of auditions in Las Vegas. "He said they had so
many great singers and dancers there that they will be stopping
there [for "Idol"]," a Fox spokeswoman said Tuesday.

The big surprise guest performer during the American Idol finale tonight will be "Freedom" hit-maker George Michael, a source has exclusively revealed.
Earlier this week, producer Nigel Lythgoe refused to reveal who the artist would be, only saying that the "biggest star in the world" was coming to Idol.
